Updated this week

Hint supports language preference for your patients. This update helps improve patient engagement, reduce language barriers, and enhance accessibility for your Spanish-speaking community.

Your practice can set Spanish as the default language for all patients or on a patient-by-patient basis. This language setting will be used for the patient portal, as well as all notifications sent to your patients.

To update your practice default language setting, please navigate to Admin > Providers & Patients > Patients > update your Default preferred language. By default, your preferred language is set to English.

To update a specific patient's preferred language, please navigate to the patient chart > Edit patient details > update their preferred language > Click "Update" to save the changes:

You can also bulk update your patient's preferred language via a patient upload. Please see How to Upload Patient Data for a step-by-step guide on how to update patient data via an upload. You will want to ensure you select "Preferred language" when exporting the CSV to update.

Any free text or copied and pasted documents can be updated to Spanish, as needed. To make this update, please navigate to Admin > Documents > Edit the document needed > update to Spanish:

To update or customize your patient notifications, please navigate to Admin > Notifications > Customize the intended notification > Choose the language. We have provided both a Spanish and English notification version for all existing patient notifications, which you customize as needed. Please visit Customizing Notifications for additional information on your notifications.

Online Signup uses Smart Language Detection. Online sign-up forms automatically display in Spanish based on the patient’s browser settings and pass that information into our application.
