When patients are coming through online signup, the first person added is set as the payer of the membership and each additional person is set as a dependent.

From Admin --> Online Signup --> Global Settings, you can elect to allow patients to be able to list a payer who is not also a member.

There are 4 variations you can select from.

1. No: Payer is enrolled as a member. There is not an option for a patient to indicate the payer is not a member

2. Yes: Payer defaults to be enrolled as member but they have the option to select that they would not like to enroll as a member as well

3. Yes (and set as default): Payer defaults to not be enrolled as a member but they have the option to select that they would like to be enrolled

4. Required: Payer is never enrolled as a member and they cannot select that they would like to be enrolled

From the patient's side of things:

If you have selected Yes, payers will have a check box they can check if they would like to not be enrolled

If you have selected Yes (and set as default), payers will have a check box they can uncheck if they would like to be enrolled

If you have selected Required, payers will just be asked for their contact info and not any additional demographics. If they also do not add at least one person on the membership (by clicking '+Add Adult' or '+Add Child') they will get an error message.

Payers will have a profile in Hint, but it will show as inactive.
