While exciting, we also understand that for clients that currently operate on Stripe, the move to Hint Payments is a big change. Please browse our FAQ below to find your answer. If your question isn't answered below, contact support@hint.com to discuss.

Why Hint Payments?

Historically, payments in Hint have been powered only by Stripe, which has enabled the growth of Hint and the Direct Care industry. Hint Payments gives us the flexibility to create a payment experience that is faster, more integrated, and better suited for your practice. Hint Payments isn’t just a new feature; it’s a shift in how we support your practice’s financial operations.

How will this transition benefit my practice?

With Hint Payments you’ll see several key improvements:
Faster payments – Get paid quicker with faster processing times. Credit card payouts will happen in 1 day instead of 2 days on Stripe.
Credit card fee pass-through – Option to pass credit card fees to patients, reducing practice expenses.
Everything in one place – Payments, transactions, and disputes will be fully integrated into Hint—no extra logins.
Better support – No more back-and-forth with Stripe. Hint’s team will directly handle payments support.

I've been operating on Stripe for years. Will I need to recollect my patients' payment information?

No. Patient payment details will automatically transfer as part of the migration. Learn more about the migration process and what to expect here.

Will my payment processing fees change on Hint Payments?

Processing fees will remain the same, but you’ll now have the option to pass credit card fees to patients—a new cost-saving opportunity. To view your transaction fees, login to Hint and visit Admin>Account>Billing.

Will this change impact how I manage refunds, chargebacks, or disputes?

Yes, all payment issues (refunds, chargebacks, etc.) will now be managed directly within Hint, making it easier and more transparent.

Are there any security implications to this migration?

No. While you should certainly always be careful with your payment credentials and passwords, the data migration process does not involve any raw PCI or PII data becoming accessible. All cardholder information is securely encrypted by Stripe and can only be unencrypted by our PCI-certified payment provider.

Should I stop accepting payments during the upgrade?

No. You should continue with business as usual. We will manage the migration process so that you can continue making payments via Stripe until all of your saved cards and ACH have been migrated to Hint Payments.

Why do I see bank account deposits or refunds from both Stripe and Hint?

After Step 1- Hint Payments Onboarding is completed, only new customers’ payments are being processed through Hint Payments. So before Stripe Data Migration is complete, you may receive a deposit or refund from both Stripe (for pre-existing customer payments) and Hint Payments (for new customer payments). Once the Stripe Data Migration is complete, all customer payments are processed through Hint Payments.

If I migrated to Hint Payments but was notified by Stripe about a dispute of an earlier payment, who do I contact?

For any payment processed through Stripe that is disputed, you will need to work through Stripe’s dispute process. For any payment processed through Hint Payments that is disputed, you will work through Hint Payments by contacting support@hint.com

Will my QuickBooks Integration still work with Hint Payments?

Yes, the QuickBooks integration will continue to work with Hint Payments as it did previously, and you should not need to update any settings for this to continue to work.
