Hint Payments: Requesting a Migration from Stripe

In some instances, you will need to request a payment source migration from Stripe to complete the transition to Hint Payments. If so, Hint will notify you via email with these instructions.

Submit the Data Migration Request to Stripe

The owner of your Stripe account will need to log in to Stripe to request the data migration. (Note: Please ensure you are logged in as the owner of the Stripe account. A developer, admin, or other user with access to the account will not be able to complete this step.)

  1. Select your account and 'Data Migrations' as the topic.

  2. Confirm you are logged into the correct Stripe account.

  3. For the type of data migration, select 'Export data out of Stripe to a third party'

  4. Under 'Which processor', enter 'Rainforest Pay, Inc.', which is the name of the underlying payment provider used by Hint Payments.

  5. For payment types, select all payment types.

  6. For file format, select 'JSON'.

  7. For customers, select 'Full'.

  8. Be sure to check the checkbox at the bottom authorizing the data export.

Next Steps: Post-Migration Data Forward

Subsequently, in a few days Stripe will send you an email with the subject 'Stripe export migration request'.

  1. This email will ask you to confirm that you would like to move forward with the migration. Reply "Confirm" to this email.

  2. A few days later, Stripe will send another email asking you to confirm the details of the migration. Reply "I approve those details, please proceed" to this email.

After you have replied to Stripe's follow-up emails to confirm the migration request, they will send you an email notifying you that they have completed the export and stored the file on their SFTP server. This email will contain encrypted technical details needed to complete the migration.

  • ACTION: Upon receipt of this email, forward it to migration-data@hint.com and include the name of your Hint account so our team knows which account this request is for. We will complete the pre-existing customer migration after you forward this email.

Once the data migration is complete, we will notify you via email. At this point, all customer transactions will be processed through Hint Payments.
