Porting your fax number to Hint, porting fax number, fax porting

When you join Hint and have a practice fax number to use in the platform, we will need to complete a fax port. Upon onboarding, Hint will ask you a few questions:

  • Does your practice have an existing business fax number?

  • What is your practice fax number that you would like to transfer to Hint?

  • Who is your provider for this practice fax number?

  • What is the account number with this fax provider?

  • Is there a PIN associated with your practice fax number?

  • Please attach a copy of your latest bill/invoice from your fax provider.

Once you provide this information, Hint will be able to complete your fax port. Ports can vary in processing time, depending on the fax provider you are porting away from.

There is very minimal downtime for sending/receiving faxes while the port is in progress. We estimate around 1 hour of downtime when the fax number is released from your fax provider and ported to our system, before using the fax number in your Hint account.

For continuous service on your number, do not cancel service with your fax provider until the port is confirmed as complete. This can cause a delay in the process, and only active numbers are eligible for porting.
