Your practice is now live on Hint Payments! That means your payment data has been successfully migrated from Stripe, and your payments are being processed directly through Hint.
This article explains what you can expect and next steps for managing your Stripe account.
What’s New
All of your practice’s payments are now processing through Hint Payments
No additional setup is required—you’re already live
New features are available, including a Disputes report in your Reports dashboard and the option to pass through credit card fees to patients (learn more)
A Few Important Notes
Keep your Stripe account open (for now)
Although new payments are now processed through Hint, Stripe will still process any refunds or disputes for past transactions.
Once all practices have completed their migration and Hint prepares to fully retire Stripe, we’ll share guidance on how and when to close or adjust your Stripe account. Our plan is to retire Stripe at the end of 2025.
Some payment failures are expected and normal.
It’s normal to see a few failed transactions after a payment migration—especially with credit cards. These early failures are often a sign that banks are doing their job by validating new payment sources before authorizing charges. Most issues are routine and are often due to:
Expired or reissued cards
Insufficient funds
Outdated or missing payment details
Failed payments are often solved by retrying the payment, or requesting updated payment info from a patient.
Hint will do this on your behalf. A standard part of payment collections is to automatically retry any failed payments and send follow-up reminders to the payer. Hint Payments includes built-in logic that will automatically retry failed credit card payments up to 4x times on a schedule and notify patients by email, helping you recover payments while minimizing manual work.

Live on Hint Payments, but still have some payment data on Stripe?
Hint is actively working to complete these practices’ migration from Stripe.
If you’ve been notified that there has been a delay in migrating some of your practice’s payment sources, here’s what you need to know:
These payments will continue to run on Stripe as business as usual until Hint can complete the migration.
Most of your payments are running through Hint, but a few may still be processed via Stripe. This means you will see deposits from both platforms.
Hint is finalizing your last remaining payment sources. We expect to complete your migration by the end of the year. In the meantime, your practice will temporarily be using both Stripe and Hint Payments.
What does this mean for patients? Nothing changes for your patients. They’ll be charged the correct amount, on time, with no disruption or duplicate charges. The experience remains seamless.
What does this mean for your practice? A small number of payments may still process through Stripe during this interim period. This just means:
Stripe will manage refunds or handle disputes for those specific transactions.
You’ll see two deposits in your bank account—one from Stripe, and one from Hint—until migration is complete.
Want to finish your migration sooner?
You can take action directly by reviewing your Migration Dashboard in your Hint account under Account > Payment Processing
From there, you can
Review a list of patients whose payment sources are still on Stripe
Review and delate any sources that seem outdated or haven’t been used in a long time
Automatically send email requests to patients to update their payment information
These steps are optional but can help reduce dual processing and streamline your payment processing sooner. We expect to complete the remaining migrations on all practices’ behalf by the end of the year.
