Our Scheduled Price Change feature lets you set up a future pricing update on an existing membership plan. Adjust the rates, choose an effective date, and apply the new pricing automatically at the right billing event. You do not need to create a duplicate plan or turn on contract periods in order to change your rates.
Use this feature when the price of a plan is changing but the benefits of the plan are staying the same. If members are moving onto a genuinely different plan, use Scheduled Membership Plan Changes instead.
Note: A plan can have one current pricing version and one scheduled future version at a time. Only one version applies to a given membership at any moment. Which one a member is billed under depends on the effective date you set and the timing option you choose for the change.
Scheduling a Price Change
Go to Admin > Membership Options.
Click View/Edit on the plan whose pricing is changing.
Scroll down to Advanced Pricing Rules and find the Price Change section.
Click + Schedule Price Change.
Enter a Name of Pricing Version. This is for your internal reference only and is never shown to patients.
Choose an Effective Date. This is the earliest date the new pricing can apply.
Update your rates. The form is prefilled with your current pricing, so you only need to change the values that are moving.
Click Save.
Choosing When Members See the New Pricing
The effective date controls when the new pricing becomes eligible. A separate setting controls which billing event actually moves each member onto it. After you save a scheduled price change, you will see When should members see this new pricing? in the Price Change section.
On First Bill after Effective Date
The new price applies on the member's first bill generated on or after the effective date.
Effective Date | Member's Next Bill Date | New Price Applies |
Jan 1, 2027 | Jan 15, 2027 | On the January 15 invoice |
On Members' Anniversary
The new price applies when the member reaches their membership anniversary on or after the effective date. A member whose anniversary falls before the effective date stays on the current pricing until their next anniversary.
Effective Date | Membership Start | Anniversary | New Price Applies |
Jan 1, 2027 | May 15, 2025 | May 15, 2027 | May 15, 2027 |
On Contract Renewal
If contract periods are enabled on the plan, this option replaces On Members' Anniversary. The new price applies when the member's contract renews on or after the effective date.
Because members renew on different dates, expect a transition period where some members are still billed on the current pricing while others have already moved to the new pricing. This is expected behavior, not an error.
Editing a Scheduled Price Change
To change a scheduled version's name, effective date, or rates, click Edit next to the scheduled change in the Price Change section. Your edits apply when the effective date is reached.
Editing the pricing fields on the plan itself updates the current pricing version, not the scheduled one.
A scheduled price change cannot be deleted at this time. If you no longer want it to happen, edit it instead: either push the effective date out, or set the rates back to your current values.
New Enrollments and Signup Links
You do not need to update your signup links. The link still points to the same plan. Anyone who enrolls before the effective date gets the current pricing, and anyone who enrolls on or after the effective date gets the new pricing.
Current Limitations
Manually overridden rates are not updated. If a membership has a rate that was overridden at the membership level, the scheduled price change will not touch it. Those need to be updated manually
Patients are not notified automatically. No notification automatically goes out when pricing changes. This would need to be manually communicated to your patients.
One plan at a time. Price changes cannot be applied across multiple plans in bulk.
One future version at a time. A plan can hold only one scheduled pricing version.
No membership-level scheduling. Price changes are scheduled on the plan, not on an individual membership.
No history view or reporting by pricing version. Past pricing versions are not currently displayed.
FAQs
Why don't I see the Price Change section on my membership plans?
Access to this feature requires a subscription to our Pro plan or above. You can inquire by contacting support@hint.com.
Does scheduling a price change affect my members right away?
No. Members see the new price only after the effective date, and only at the billing event you selected.
Can I schedule more than one future price change on a plan?
Not at the same time. A plan can hold one scheduled pricing version. Once that version takes effect and becomes the current pricing, you can schedule the next one.
What pricing will new members get?
New enrollments use whichever pricing version is effective on the day they enroll.
Do I need to update my signup links?
No. The plan behind the link does not change.
Can I delete a scheduled price change?
Not in this release. You can edit the scheduled version instead, either by moving the effective date or by resetting the rates to their current values.
What happens to a membership whose rate was manually overridden?
The override stays in place, scheduled price changes do not adjust overridden rates. Those memberships can be updated individually if you want them to reflect the new pricing.
Will my special rates carry over to the new pricing version?
Yes, as long as the special rate name matches exactly between the two versions. If the name differs, the special rate will not carry over.
Should I use a price change or a plan change?
Use a price change when the rates on a plan are changing and the benefits are staying the same. Use a plan change when members are moving to a plan that is actually different, for example a plan with different services included, or when you want an introductory rate to expire after a set number of months.
