Does Dose Spot load medication history?

  • Yes, Dose Spot downloads medication history bidirectionally

  • If the patient pays with insurance, history will be pulled into medication history. If the patient doesn’t use insurance, the prescriber can add it under “Add Self-Reported Medication”

Does the Dose Spot integration automatically sync the following information or does it require manual entry:

  • Allergies - no

  • Height, weight - no, but this can be added under 'Edit Patient Information'

  • Insurance information - yes, based on name, DOB, and address

Does Dose Spot check for drug interactions?

  • DoseSpot will automatically check for Drug-Drug and Drug–Allergy Interactions between new and existing medications and provide advisory information on the Patient Details page at the time of prescribing. Drug– Allergy Interactions and Drug–Drug Interactions from pending medications are displayed below the Patient Information section.

Why does Dose Spot create duplicate entries of medications in the patient chart?

  • This is a bug that our Product team plans to resolve in Spring, 2024

How is a preferred pharmacy set?

  • The preferred pharmacy is manually configured the first time prescribing for a patient. set as favorite.

How can I save a list of favorite medications in Dose Spot?

  • Please contact Hint Support for instructions to save your favorite medications

How does EPCS work?

  • When prescribing a controlled substance, the PIN will be followed by a Two Factor Authentication code from your Duo mobile app or token.

Can clinicians write compounding prescriptions?

  • Yes

Does Dose Spot save compound prescriptions?

  • Yes, they are saved and do not need to be re-written

I am using Dose Spot in multiple clinics, how do I toggle between the two?

  • Navigate to the upper right corner of the page in Dose Spot and click on 'Change' next to the clinic name. Here, you can select the desired clinic in the dropdown menu.

What should I do if I add another prescriber or delegate to my Hint account?

  • Contact Hint Support to add the provider to Dose Spot and Support will send instructions to activate when the provider is ‘confirmed’ by Dose Spot (1 - 2 business days)

I have added another prescriber, but their permissions are not correct.

  • Contact Hint Support and we will be able to update this for you!

How often does Dose Spot update the pharmacy database?

  • The Surescripts pharmacy database used by DoseSpot is updated daily. If a prescriber is not able to find a pharmacy, please log a ticket

How often does Dose Spot update its drug database?

  • Dose Spot updates its drug database monthly. If a prescriber can't find a medication, please log a ticket.

What happens if my phone number changes? How do I update this in DoseSpot?

What information is shared with the pharmacy when a medication is prescribed in Dose Spot?

If a patient is taking a specific dose and needs it to be increased, does the provider need to send in a new Rx for the increase? Does it cancel out the old one?

  • It does not cancel out the old one automatically but the provider can easily cancel the old script after sending in the new Rx with the updated dose.

Does Dose Spot support weight-based prescribing for pediatric patients?

  • Yes - there is a dosing calculator!

How can I connect to the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) in my state?

  • Please contact Hint Support. We will request with Dose Spot and Dose Spot will send you state-specific information. Please note, that there may be a cost associated with this.

I have to re-enter height and weight every time I prescribe for my child patient. Is this normal?

  • Yes - children are often growing quickly, so the expectation is that the height and weight may differ regularly. You will need to input the height and weight each time you prescribe, as this is a Surescripts requirement. Additionally, we have requested an exception to this requirement - which we will provide an update on as soon as it's addressed!
